CLAP FOR THEM

Can we please normalize celebrating a new person’s walk with Christ?

“They think they’re so Holy Rolly.” “They’re too good for us now.” “It’s just a phase.”

A Christian’s walk won’t always fit your agenda because some stronger in their faith may have given up things that others choose not to. To some it’s a complete lifestyle change. But that, in no way shape or form, means that we think that we’re better than the person next to us. We’re just conforming to the word of God as he says we should.

Romans 12:2

“And do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

We normalize all of the worldly things. All of the worldly trends. Absolute ridiculousness. And it’s condoned. But the moment someone leans in spiritually, all eyes lock in and suddenly we’re faced with judgment from our peers.

Make it make sense y’all.

Colossians 3:2 says,

“Set your minds on things not on this earth but above it.”

We aren’t gone, we’ve just changed our perspective.

And the sad reality of the situation is that our family and friends are the ones judging us the most.

We don’t think we’re better than you.

We’re just choosing to turn away from things that may obstruct our path to God.

And you can call me “Holy Rolly” all you want. I’m on fire for God. I anticipate the day that I get to meet my God, because I know how he has shown up for me time and time again when I didn’t even know it.

Why can’t we all clap for these achievements? These changes in peoples lives?

Why does it feel like walking in faith is something that needs a seal of approval?

You have a loved one that needs help and chooses to walk into church? Encourage that.

You know an addict who claims to have found God and is walking in sobriety? Pray for continuation!

Do you have a friend that’s started declining invites to parties or drinks while out?

Be respectful of their decisions.

It’s not for you to understand, but it’s also not your place to judge.

Y’all claim to be men and women of God but the moment the person you were just claiming needed to find God does, you’re now “waiting to see how long it’ll last”.

That’s ugly y’all. And I promise Jesus is up there shaking his head at your remarks. It’s not what was done in public that you’re going to have to answer for but what is said in private. He knows the true intentions of your heart.

It’s not a competition and we don’t think we’re better. In fact, it’s truly a beautiful journey that anyone with their eyes set on God would invite others to join them on.

The world is filled with so much hate already. Surly we can find it within ourselves to clap for those who’ve found themselves in Christ. Even if you don’t understand, clap anyway.
